Volleyball To Host Clash Of First-Place Teams Friday

first_img The Drake University volleyball team puts its 10-game win streak, the fifth-longest in the nation, and undefeated Missouri Valley Conference record on the line this weekend with a pair of home matches against Missouri State and Southern Illinois.The Bulldogs’ series begins against fellow 6-0 MVC team Missouri State Friday night before facing Southern Illinois Saturday evening. Following the tough-weekend the Bulldogs head to nationally ranked in-state rival Northern Iowa on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. Northern Iowa is currently ranked No. 20 in the Coaches Poll and sits tied with Drake and Missouri State at the top of Valley standings with a 6-0 record entering this weekend. Print Friendly Version Live Stats vs. MSU ESPN3 Following its sweep over Southern Illinois last weekend, Missouri State moved up to No. 44 in the NCAA RPI report as well as receiving eight votes in the NCAA Top-25. The team’s current 10-match win streak ties for the second longest in program history. Drake was led by senior Kyla Inderski (Urbandale, Iowa) who tallied her eighth double-double in the last nine games grabbing 19 kills and 33 digs over the weekend. The Bulldogs’ defense continues to be a strong point as freshman Kylee Macke (Ankeny, Iowa) earned MVC Defensive Player of the Week honors following a 38 dig performance against Evansville and Indiana State.
