GAA NEWS – NAOMH COLMCILLE CLUB NOTES

first_imgWeekly NotesThe seniors and reserves both got back to winning ways this week with away wins at Red Hughs on Saturday evening.Naomh Colmcille seniors travelled to Red Hughs after recent reverses against Fanad Gaels in the league and Championship, and came away with both points after a vital victory. Final score Red Hughs 0-6 2-6 Naomh Colmcille. Downings are next up in the league away on Saturday (1st). The reserves made it six league wins out of the last seven games with a 4 point win against Red Hughs. Despite being in the lead for much of the first half, the reserves were two points down at the interval (0-3 to 0-5). The second half was a different story however and the visitors held the hosts scoreless for most of the half while adding 1-6 to their own score. A late goal from a penalty for Red Hughs narrowed the winning margin. Final score Red Hughs 1-5 1-9 Naomh Colmcille. The next game is against Downings away on Saturday (1st).Well done to the u10s who competed in their first Northern board blitz of the year at Buncrana on Saturday.The u12s travelled to Convoy for their first Go Games match of the year on Monday evening. The green team lost out in their match, but the yellow team, despite going behind to an early goal, recovered well and recorded a great victory.The u14s take on Termon in the championship on Wednesday. See website and Facebook for more details and updates. The club’s Run for Funds 2013 takes place on Friday 31st May and Saturday 1st June at Kernans Eurospar and Pairc Colmcille. U8s, u10s and u12s will run laps of the track at Pairc Colmcille during their training sessions on Friday / Saturday; the remaining teams, including seniors and reserves, will run on the treadmill at Kernans. Children who collect €30 or more will be entered into a spot prize draw. Please support this vital club fundraiser.Naomh Colmcille are entering a team for the national u14 Feile competition being held in Derry from 28-30 June 2013. A quiz night is being organised for Thursday June 6th, with proceeds being used for training / playing gear for the Feile team clubhouse (note the date has been changed from the initial plan of Friday 7th). We look forward to seeing as much support as possible for the event – it is, after all, exclusively for the Feile team. We would also welcome parents getting involved in other fundraising activities to minimise the individual cost of the gear we hope to get for the boys.
