50 months’ jail for silver chain thief

first_imgA bandit, who was previously jailed, was on Monday jailed yet again, this time for 50 months for robbing a man of his silver chain and other items.Kennard Persaud, 29, admitted to stealing the chain, a cellphone and $500 from Ryan Dari on July 6, 2018 at Brickdam, Georgetown.According to the prosecution’s case, the Virtual Complainant (VC) was in a Route 42 minibus, seated in the front seat, when Persaud, along with others, approached him and demanded that he hand over his valuables.Dari complied, giving the men the items following which they escaped. The VC subsequently reported the matter and Persaud was later apprehended and found with the chain in his possession.Before jailing him, Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan advised the thief, “Thou shall not steal.”last_img

first_imgAT LEAST A dozen Bank of Ireland staff in Donegal have pocketed whopping bonuses, donegaldaily.com can reveal.Bank of Ireland has many generous perks for its senior executives.And despite the taxpayers’ bail-out the bank has continued to pay handsome wads of cash to senior staff. And today a Donegal Bank of Ireland insider told donegaldaily.com: “There’s a lot of media attention surrounding Dublin executives but at least a dozen here in Donegal have banked big bonuses.“The coverage of the situation in Dublin is a smokescreen. Senior executives across the country get annual bonuses and a few in here have landed some too.“I personally don’t think any bonuses should be paid after the collapse of the banks. If I was given one, I’d hand it back. It belongs to the country now.”Asked how much was paid out, our source replied: “You are looking at between €10k and €50k.” The chief executive of the Bank of Ireland gets an annual cash allowance of €34,000 for his car on top of his basic salary of €690,000.Head of retail Des Crowley receives an annual car cash allowance of €27,500 along with €20,000 for entrance fees to clubs, and €7,000 for annual membership fees.
