The chair of the Waterfront Development Corporation (WDCL), John Holm, announced today, June 14, the appointment of Joyce Carter, as vice-chair of the board of directors. “Ms. Carter’s strong financial background and her skills in stakeholder and government relations make her an excellent vice- chair for WDCL,” said Economic and Rural Development and Tourism Minister Percy Paris. She is the vice-president finance, chief financial officer and chief strategy officer for Halifax International Airport Authority. She is board chair of the Halifax Gateway Council, and serves on the boards of the Canadian Airports Reciprocal Insurance Exchange, the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, Dalhousie University, and is a past provincial treasurer and former board member of the Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers Association. “Joyce shares WDCL’s vision to create memorable spaces and experiences on our waterfronts that enrich cultural and economic opportunities,” said Mr. Holm. “She is committed to moving development opportunities forward and seeing the potential of waterfront resources maximized.” Ms. Carter’s term as vice-chair begins June 14 until March 1, 2014. Waterfront Development Corporation Ltd. is a provincial Crown corporation developing the strategic potential of the Bedford, Dartmouth, Halifax and Lunenburg waterfronts. Revenues are reinvested in the waterfronts to drive economic opportunity, enhance tourism and reflect and protect marine heritage.
