The house itself was the inspiration. It is an icon.” A decadent spot for the morning cuppa.But it is time to sell, with Ms Ponticello admitting she was initially hesitant about putting the iconic residence on the market.She also said she was open to selling some of the key furniture pieces should a prospective buyer be keen to buy them.“I have moved down the coast now. I have gone from big to simple by the beach,” she said.“She (the house) has now been modernised and it would suit a professional family with, say, kids in high school.“You can turn the key and relax.” The home was lovingly restored.She also renovated the bathrooms and the powder room, even installing a feature mirror over a casement window to address a privacy issue.“When you went to the toilet, people walking past could see right in,” she laughed.A lot of the wallpapers used throughout the property were sourced from Europe, and the chandeliers were imported from Italy and then assembled by hand. Built in 1880, Ventnor started life as a block of flats, but was converted into a single residence in the early 1900s.Ms Ponticello said she was unable to change its facade because of its heritage listing, but designed the interior around some key pieces of furniture that she had inherited from her European parents and some of her favourite artworks.
