CYCLING: FOUR MASTERS POISON GLEN TOUR

first_imgThe 2012 Four Masters Poison Glen Tour is set to take to the roads of Donegal on Sunday 7th October.The 78 mile course will take the same route as last year with a feed station at An Churt Hotel in Dunlewy.Cycling trough Glenveagh National Park and the Poison Glen this is a must do tour for all cyclists who appreicate the scenic beauty that Donegal has to offer or those who just enjoy a challenging cycle. Similar to last year this event will be leaving Aura Leisure centre in Letterkenny and travel through Kilmacrennan via Trentagh. We will then turn left in Termon through the magnificent Glenveagh National Park before turning right to tackle the first climb of the day, the Muckish gap. Once over Muckish its down into Falcarragh and on to Gorkahork and Dunlewy before a feed stop at An Chuirt Hotel in Dunlewy.After a 15 min stop here we set of to tackle the toughest climb of the day, The Poison Glen. After you summit the Poison Glen you have a fast descent down into Glenveagh once again and then back towards Letterkenny via Gartan.As with all Four Masters Leisure events the pace will be controlled. This is a fun day for everyone and not a race. UFC VICE PRESIDENT SAYS JOSEPH DUFFY IS MORE IRISH THAN CONOR MCGREGOR

first_imgUFC vice-president Joe Carr has hit back at Conor McGregor’s claims that Joseph Duffy isn’t Irish by saying the Donegal fighter is more Irish than him! McGregor was speaking at a Q&A session with MMA fans yesterday when he said, ‘He’d love to KO Duffy stiff.’He made derogatory claims about Duffy’s Irish authenticity which angered a lot of Irish MMA fans. Duffy hasn’t responded to the remarks as of yet, but the pair will meet this weekend in Las Vegas.However, vice-president Carr says Duffy has more in common with the average Irish person than McGregor.Carr said, “Being of Irish decent and growing up in an Irish community, I feel like, when push comes to shove, the Irish people identify more with a personality type like Joe Duffy than they do with Conor McGregor.“Conor is larger than life, and he’s probably well more liked than hated, but deep down that strong, silent go-about-your-business is more of an Irish personality type, in my personal opinion.“And, I think the Irish people, and the Americans, can very much identify with that.”Duffy and McGregor will meet at the UFC GO BIG launch event which takes places at the MGM Grand Garden Arena tomorrow.
